Hypoestes, widely known as the Polka Dot Plant, is a genus of lively, evergreen subshrubs celebrated for their highly decorative, splash-patterned foliage. These compact plants typically maintain a bushy, mounding habit, reaching about 12 to 24 inches in height depending on their environment. Their distinctively pointed, oval leaves are famously covered in erratic, colorful spots and mottling that can range from soft pinks and bright roses to deep reds and stark whites against a green base. While they do produce small, inconspicuous tubular flowers, they are cultivated primarily for their vibrant, colorful leaf displays. Polka Dot Plants are incredibly versatile, thriving as eye-catching indoor houseplants, engaging additions to terrariums, or vivid container accents on shaded patios.
